Abstract

The article is devoted to revealing of addressing’s peculiarities in the English-language children’s poetic discourse. In children’s poetic discourse the factor of addressing is determined by its purpose for children. In this paper it is established that the addresser, as the initiator of communication, and the addressee who responds to the communicative initiative, occupy the equal and important positions in the organizing of the space of the English-language children’s poetic discourse. The orientation towards the addressee is revealed as the basic principle of the English-language children’s poetic discourse. In the English-language children’s poetic discourse addressing is considered an active role both the addresser and the addressee. This can be observed in the fact that the orientation toward the addressee is determined as the main factor of the author’s communicative purposes, the selection of linguistic means. In this case, the co-authoring of the speaker and the listener (interaction of the poet and the child) is realized in the form of the addressee’s corresponding reaction. In the English-language children’s poetic discourse addressing is determined as the category of interaction of the poet and the child. In the paper, it is revealed that the addresser’s speech behaviour adapts to the parameters of the addressee’s linguistic personality, his/her thesaurus, psycho-emotional features, motives, interests and expectations. In the English-language children’s poetic discourse the child’s features condition author’s speech, which is constructed with considering of the peculiarities of the child’s perception and understanding. In the article, linguistic means are characterised. They represent the addresser’s desire to get closer to the addressee, to involve in the common communicative space. Based on the analysis, the most widespread means are revealed. Among them, there are direct and indirect speech, blocks «question-answer». They are identified as markers, which imitate the dialogue of the addresser with the addressee, activate the feedback, and stimulate the corresponding reaction. The ways of personification and the elements of anthropomorphism are described in this paper. They help to design the reality of the addressee’s existence. It is determined that the factor of addressing has the important role in the English-language children's poetic discourse, because the poems are devoted to children, they are created specifically for little researchers of the world.
