PROFESSIONAL RESILIENCE AND SELF-EFFICACY OF MEDICAL PERSONNEL IN THE CONTEXT OF IMPLEMENTING REHABILITATION MEASURES FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL

Abstract

The article considers theoretical approaches to interpreting the concepts of “resilience” and “self-efficacy” as important professional and psychological characteristics of medical workers. Their significance for the processes of professional self-identification, self-realization, and self-recognition in the field of medical care, which is characterized by a high level of empathic involvement and significant professional risks, is analyzed. These phenomena are considered as potential markers of deterioration of social interaction in a professional team and predictors of emotional burnout and other maladaptive states. An empirical study was conducted among 180 medical personnel involved in providing rehabilitation assistance to military personnel. The study yielded the following results in the sample: the prevailing level of professional self-efficacy among the medical workers surveyed is high, which indicates a focus on effectiveness in their work and satisfaction from it when providing assistance to military personnel; a low level of professional resilience is common, which indicates low involvement in professional activities and a lack of control over them; the average level of professional resilience is 36.0 points. The obtained indicators of professional effectiveness will form a sense of psychological well-being among this category of medical workers, preventively influence the emergence of professional risks, demonstrate a focus on gaining experience and successfully performing professional duties, and form the basis of psychological resources for individuals in their future professional activities. Prospects for further research lie in identifying the specific causes of low levels of professional self-efficacy and resilience among medical workers, followed by a search for ways to prevent and eliminate them.
