METAPHORICAL VERBALIZATION OF THE IMAGE OF THE TEACHER IN GERMAN LANGUAGE QUOTES OF FAMOUS PEOPLE

Abstract

The article deals with the representation of the language image of the teacher in German language quotes of famous people. The main attention is paid to the peculiarities of its metaphorical embodiment in the studied material. The purpose of scientific research is to characterize the models by which anthropomorphic and artifact metaphors are implemented in German language quotes of famous people. Achieving the outlined goal is ensured through the use of general scientific (methods of observation, analysis, generalization) and linguistic methods (methods of continuous sumpling and contextual analysis, descriptive method). The scientific novelty of the study consists in revealing the features of the metaphorical verbalization of the image in the researched material. Conclusions. The anthropomorphic metaphor is represented in the German-language quotes of famous people by its two types: "the teacher is a social person" and "the teacher is a physiological person." Within the first type, the following models of metaphorical reinterpretation are singled out: "teacher is a sower", "teacher is a commander", "teacher is a classmate", which actualize positive evaluation, and models "teacher is a gardener", "teacher is a worker", "teacher is a drug addict", which implement negative evaluation. The second type is revealed by models "teacher is a head", "teacher is a child", "teacher is a corpse", which give the researched image negative evaluative semantics. The artifact metaphor is represented by two types: "teacher is a mechanism", "teacher is a subject", which, in turn, are realized through the models "teacher is a grinding machine" and "teacher is a twig", respectively. They are characterized by positive and negative evaluation. Given the number of models and their content, the studied empirical material is dominated by the type "teacher is a social person", in which images of representatives of other professions or occupations are used to represent the teacher's qualities and attributes.
