ETHICAL ASPECTS OF USING AI SYSTEMS TRANSLATION

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence in translation, highlighting its effects on professional translators, addressing copyright concerns, and assessing the reliability of machine-translated content. Methodology. This research utilizes qualitative content analysis to examine scientific literature, legal frameworks, and practical cases connected to AI-based translation. It incorporates a comparative analysis between conventional and automated translation techniques, as well as an evaluation of legal precedents addressing copyright issues while using AI in translation process. Scientific novelty. This research highlights significant ethical risks associated with machine translation, including issues of translation accountability, copyright implications, and the evolving role of human translators. It offers, for the first time, a comprehensive examination of the potential legal consequences of machine translation as interpreted through modern legal frameworks. Conclusions. Artificial intelligence holds transformative potential in the field of translation, presenting a mix of promising opportunities alongside critical ethical concerns. On the one hand, machine translation offers the ability to considerably enhance efficiency and streamline workflows, making it a powerful tool for handling large-scale linguistic tasks. On the other hand, it introduces challenges surrounding the accuracy of the translations produced and accountability for errors or misinterpretations that may arise.
