Analyzed are quite a few examples of neologisms of the sociocultural sphere “health care”, which occurred in American English in the last two decades and have become commonly used due to their wide distribution in online editions. An accent has been put on the relevance of compiling small-size special purpose dictionaries-glossaries for students of departments of translation aiming at representing new linguistic units on grounds of their actuality and communicative expediency within the modern English language discourse. Conclusion is made of relevance of compiling learner’s dictionaries of modern English language innovations with the purpose of enhancing students’ linguistic and communicative competence. As a perspective of further research compiling of syllabus-consistent learner’s ideographic mono- and bilingual dictionaries both in print and e-format is suggested.
