COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF DEPRESSIVE PERSONALITY
Keywords:

The article features the communicative behaviour of the depressive personality according to the level of his/her communicative competence. It has been found out that the communicative attitude towards the communicative partner depends on the nature of the depression in which the speaker is. According to this, we differentiate between depression as a characterological type of personality, depression as a state or mood (depending on the severity and the course) and depression as a result of other destructive processes in the absence of depressive accentuation. The depressive speaker is completely concentrated on the inner world, being imprisoned within a limited space, − their own physical body. Any contact with the external environment emphasizes their own inadequacy, therefore, the depressive individual does not only fail to crave for socialization, but also tries to avoid any intrusion upon his/her autonomy. It has been noted that the communicative behaviour of a depressive personality tends to a passive-centred type. The manifestation of a uncooperative behaviour is peculiar to individuals in the state of depression under the influence of severe psychogenic factors. Indirect verbal aggression is presented in fragments of discourse, which contain irony and sarcasm. Depressive communicants in the state of mild depression tend to cooperative communicative type having positive attitude towards the communication partner, demonstrating a high level of communicative competence.
