METHODICAL TYPOLOGY OF JOURNALISTIC GENRES IN TEACHING ENGLISH PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED WRITING

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of teaching English professionally oriented written communication of future specialists of the publishing industry. The reasons which determine the necessity/ need for research of the methodological typology of journalistic genres are outlined. The attention is paid to the components of professionally-oriented learning a foreign language as well as the formation of a foreign language professional communicative competence through which the journalist implements professional functions. The principle of systemicity is important for implementation of the competent approach in teaching professionally oriented foreign language which is primarily predetermined by the interdisciplinary integration of professional and foreign communication skills. On the basis of modern international requirements, a university graduate must have the skills and abilities to create texts of different levels of difficulty that correspond to a certain style and genre of the written communication. The analysis of scientific literature shows that a text is based on the rules that are determined by its functional style and genre variety. The concepts of genre and genre competence, their place in the teaching of written speech are considered. For future editors and publishers, genre competence is an integral part of professional competence. The expediency of using the genre approach in the transition from an elliptical to a detailed, developed writing at the initial stage of the training is substantiated. The basic skills of writing comprehensible, detailed texts that are related to the professional sphere are determined. The effectiveness of the development of skills is provided by the genre approach to teaching the professionally oriented English writing of prospective professionals. In order to substantiate the methodological typology of journalistic genres for the development of the skills of a detailed writing, a brief analysis of genres is presented, the writing of which are advisable to teach students at the initial stage of the bachelor degree. It should be emphasized that the use of announcements, informational and advertising notices in foreign language classes increases the effectiveness of forming both professional and foreign language communicative competence of future professionals who learn to analyze the information and use it in foreign language professionally oriented written communication.
