COMMUNICATIVE METHOD OF STUDYING ENGLISH AT HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The article clarifies the role and importance of the communicative method for learning a foreign language by students of higher education institutions. The level of foreign language training of students at higher education institutions requires compliance with global trends in communication at a high professional level. The purpose of the study is to determine the role and main characteristics of the communicative method in learning foreign languages by students at higher education institutions of the sports in the XXI century. Research methods are structural and systematic analysis of the content, forms, methods and means of teaching, comparative analysis, chronological and diachronic. The formation result at students of higher education institutions of the appropriate level to use foreign language communication is the acquisition of language and speech competence. This process involves the acquisition of certain knowledge, the development of professionally oriented communication skills through the use of modern methods in learning a foreign language. The communicative method involves the formation of communicative competence at students of higher education based on real communication models through the development of personality, the disclosure of its reserve capabilities and creative potential. The main groups of exercises for the formation of communication skills at students of higher education institutions of sports are situational, responsive, descriptive, game, discussion, reproductive. Given the circumstances surrounding the 21st century pandemic, the focus of the communicative method in learning foreign languages has shifted towards Internet technologies. The use of the communicative method in learning foreign languages at higher education institutions of sports aims to develop the student’s personality and prepare for intercultural communication at a high level. The prospect of further research provides a detailed analysis of other methods used to increase the level of students’ knowledge at higher education institutions in the process of mastering a foreign language.
