REBROADCASTING OF UKRAINIAN IDENTITY IN THE ANIMATED FILM “MAVKA. FOREST SONG”

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of Ukrainian identity and its retransmission in the animated film «Mavka. Forest Song». The purpose of the study is the cultural analysis of the animated film «Mavka. Forest song», from the point of view of reproducing in it the factors of Ukrainian identity. The research methodology is based on the application of comparison, analysis and extrapolation, which made it possible to establish the main components of identity, to identify common features and the relationship between them. The scientific novelty is that, for the first time, a cultural analysis of the retransmission of Ukrainian identity in the modern animated film «Mavka. Forest Song». The study identifies the factors of Ukrainian identity in relation to the imagery represented in the film. Symbols, archetypes, myths, traditions and rituals are highlighted and their definitions are given. Was established that the retransmission of the Ukrainian identity occurs through the symbolism of the images of the main characters, the symbolism of colors, costumes, and accessories; through archetypes demonstrating man's connection with nature, spirituality, and femininity; the mythological character of the characters, who relay the worldview, cultural values and spiritual traditions; through Ukrainian folklore, traditions, rituals and authentic music used in the film. Also, as representatives of Ukrainian identity, elements of Ukrainian lifestyle, exterior, landscapes, sacredness of flora and fauna are outlined. Was concluded that the very image of Mavka symbolizes the spiritual values of the Ukrainian people, it conveys the connection with nature, cultural traditions, spirituality, and the desire to find a connection with higher forces. Animated film «Mavka. Forest Song» is an important cultural phenomenon, as it allows not only to draw attention to the multifaceted nature of Ukrainian culture, but also to provoke reflection on modern problems, such as interaction with nature, feminism, moral dilemmas, and other relevant topics. The film is a significant resource for the formation of the national identity of Ukrainians and at the same time its presentation in the world cultural space.
