Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze Spain's experience in popularizing culture with the help of digital content. The research methodology is based on a multidisciplinary combination of a number of methods and approaches integrated from cultural studies and information technologies. General scientific methods of analysis and generalization of the results made it possible to clarify the main directions of Spain's actions in the digital popularization of culture. The scientific novelty of the study lies in highlighting the main initiatives of the Spanish government in using digitalization to popularize culture and its heritage. Conclusions. In Spain, most initiatives in the digital promotion of cultural heritage come from public authorities. To do this, they successfully inventoried their resources, optimized their activities, identified and actualized reserves for a new format of popularization using open resources and production of a new type of content of cultural activity and social interaction with the help of digital tools, which contributed to the formation of trust, cooperation and the authority of the state, as in both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the experience of Spain is particularly useful for our country and can be useful for the implementation of its preferences on a national basis. However, it is important not to lose sight of a number of local circumstances, including numerous technological and socio-economic features that shape different priorities and challenges. The local component, determined by the situation and priorities of different countries, should ultimately be taken into account by the country's government in order to consolidate its own digital space in the promotion of culture. In particular, to promote and protect the diversity of forms of own cultural expression, which in turn requires continuous work on specific local needs and problems of culture and its sectors.
