PIANO PERFORMANCE TRAINING FOR POP VOCALISTS

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to reveal the psychological and pedagogical features of working with future pop vocalists in the piano class, to determine the priority areas for the development of their instrumental and performing culture. The research methodology takes into account the historical development of piano teaching methods and is based on a comprehensive approach that involves theoretical analysis of scientific literature on musicology, music psychology, and pedagogy, combining musical-analytical and comparative methods with observational (analysis of the teaching process in the piano class and the practice of involving students in concert activities as soloists or accompanists). The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time an attempt has been made to outline the range of issues and tasks that arise in the process of forming the piano skills of a future pop vocalist; knowledge about the specifics of working with adult beginners has been deepened, favorable factors have been identified, and optimal directions for piano training of future pop vocalists have been proposed. Conclusions. The study allows us to conclude that piano performance training plays a significant role in the professional activity of a pop singer. Mastering piano skills in adulthood is successfully achieved by relying on previous musical and auditory knowledge, taking into account motivational and volitional factors. The components of piano training that provide the optimal set of skills for a pop vocalist include mastering a range of basic technical piano skills, broad familiarity with music from different eras and genres, and developing the skills of a teacher-rehearsal coach and accompanist, which are helpful for a pop vocalist.
