REINTERPRETATION OF THE GALICIA-VOLHYNIA PRINCIPALITY CHARACTERISTIC IN THE ART UNION “KOOLYA” (BULLET) ART WORK

Abstract

The investigation problematic is dedicated to the reinterpretation of Galicia-Volhynia Principality characteristic discovery in the Art Union “Koolya” artists’ work. The accent is on the domination of a wide ideas spectrum in the creative work of the union members. It is proven that the creative work of the artists is considerable in amoung, and contains deep ideas, which is extremely hard to analyse to a full extent within one article. Therefore, we analyse only some works, which to our mind deeply characterise the ideological and technical portrait of the artists of the art union, their views and philosophy of the created works, etc. We have characterised the art union creative figures and their activities, which is aimed at artistic reinterpretation of the Galicia-Volhynia Principality history through visual investigations of little-known themes. We analysed the graphic work of Oleksand Dyshko – the chief of the art union “Koolya”. He is a modern talented Volyn graphic artist, reintepreter of the portrait of Galicia-Volhynia Principality. The main themes have been defined, types of visualisation and peculiarities of their embodiment in the artistic works of the artist. The Old Rus’ theme has been identified, the type of characters in graphic works, such mystical characters as Tryhlav (Three-Head), Pentarchy, Kolokrut (Hurl, the one who is using people) have been described, numerous signs of earth, castles, emblems, flags as key mythical images, signs and symbols, with the help of which the portrait of Galicia-Volhynia Principality is being reinterpreted in the art union members’ works. The specifics of the reinterpetation of historical personalities of Galicia-Volhynia Principality in its different periods, including a number of chiefs, earls, kings, saints. It is stated that they are reflected in the artists’ paintings both as separate figures, and as elements of more complex compositions, styled iconography, geographical and political unfolding maps, various compositions with a plot. It has been proven that the architectural and landscape theme is represented by a number of reconstruction paintings dedicated to reinterpretation of the history of of Galicia-Volhynia Principality by means of free fantasy based on historical facts, legends, recitals, with the help of stylisation elements, very small prints, extreme drawing details, which creates various visual effects and the feeling of senses play. The first scientific comprehension of the portrait of Galicia-Volhynia Principality in the graphic works by Oleksandr Dyshko is the task of our investigation. We need a modern artistic interpretation of the ancient events in order to enlighten and advertise the ancient history of Lutsk and Volyn. The members of the art union “Koolya” declare by their art works that the spirit rules the world, creating a relatively free-standing ideal substance. The characteristics of the creativity, the basis of which holds the philosophical understanding of being, are expressed in a special art form, they are unique and most effective ways of understanding the beautiful.
