CHALLENGES OF MILITARY FAMILIES IN MODERN REALITIES

Objective. The study aims to identify the challenges faced by military families during the full-scale war in Ukraine.Special attention is given to aspects affecting the stability of family relationships, including psychological stress, economic difficulties, problems of adaptation after the return of military personnel home, and social support.Methodology. The data were analyzed using both quantitative (author’s questionnaire survey) and qualitative methods (interviews, observation), allowing for the identification of key challenges and trends related to the research problem and the proposal of further solutions. A specially designed author’s questionnaire included questions about the socio- psychological state, financial difficulties, adaptation problems, and levels of social support. The study sample consisted of 22 military families from Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions, including 13 couples (where the husband is an active serviceman) and 9 nuclear families (parents of military personnel).Scientific novelty. The study reveals that military families face a range of challenges, highlighting the need for specialized social programs tailored to local conditions.Findings. The study results show that military families experience high levels of stress due to prolonged separation, uncertainty about safety, and economic hardships. A significant proportion of respondents reported difficulties in the adaptation of returning military personnel, including emotional detachment and family conflicts. The majority of respondents expressed the need for enhanced psychological and socio-psychological support. The importance of developing and implementing social programs aimed at supporting military families is emphasized. The study underscores the necessity of expanding access to social and psychological assistance, improving financial support, and further developing social programs to facilitate the adaptation of returning military personnel. The research findings can serve as a foundation for the development of social programs that contribute to the stability and well-being of military families in the current realities.
