SOCIAL WORK WITH CHILDREN WITH AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDERS

Abstract

The humanistic vector of development of the Ukrainian society demands updating of principles and approaches to the organization of social work with children with autism spectrum disorders; modernization of content, forms and methods of its implementation. The aim of the article is to analyze the specifics of social work with children with autism. Realization of the set purpose provides the decision of a number of problems, such as: 1) disclosure of essence of concept of autism, the analysis of theories of autism and signs of its display; 2) study of the specifics of socialization of children with autism spectrum disorders and 3) determination of optimal conditions for the development of the personality of a child with autism. The article considers childhood autism as a complex medical, psychological, pedagogical and socio-pedagogical problem, the constructive solution of which depends on the timely diagnosis of autistic disorders, their effective treatment and involvement of children with autism in the educational space. It is noted that social work is focused on improving the quality of life of children with autism, active inclusion in their age-appropriate activities, providing integrated learning and education, which will facilitate their socialization. The socialization of a child with autism spectrum disorders should begin with preschool education, where the identification of the child as an individual and part of society begins. Important factors in the socialization of a child with autism are early intervention centers, school, development groups, family, which ensure not only its passive adaptation, but also active entry into society. In conclusion, the article emphasizes that the creation of optimal conditions in society for the development of a child with autistic disorders, its integration into society is one of the most important social tasks of our state. Social work should ensure the socialization of children with autism on their own personal terms so that they become active and full members of society. Further research is needed to develop interactive methods, technologies, programs for social adaptation and rehabilitation of children with autism spectrum disorders.
