LIFE CRISES AND PSYCHOLOGICAL READINESS OF YOUTH FOR MOTHERHOOD

Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical and empirical study of the peculiarities of the psychological readiness of young people for motherhood, the general status in the parents’ families of the research subjects, and satisfaction with future motherhood. The term «life crises» is described in the article, that is, it is a transitional period of life, which is characterized by the breaking and active change of life roles of an individual, the border between old and new experience, a qualitative transition from one state to another. It has been proven that normal crises can be natural at the stage of family development, for example, the birth of a child. Empirically, a trend was established about the presence and development of the empathic sphere, sensitivity to the child’s condition and understanding of the causes of this condition, however, only a third of the subjects were characterized by a positive attitude towards the motherhood situation. The obtained results prove that in adolescence there is an awareness of the accumulated experience of interaction with one’s own mother, the formation of the image of one’s model of motherhood, the desire to have a family and children appears, which is an indicator of the harmonious formation of a woman’s maternal sphere. Today, young people realize the role of mother (without the required level of psychological readiness) mostly due to the motive of the need to prove to a stereotypical society that a young girl can afford to give birth and raise a child. The psychological readiness of young people for motherhood can be developed through psychological preparation, which can include various techniques, training and training exercises that help to increase concentration of attention, develop resistance to stress, and improve the ability to make decisions.
