COUNSELLING AS A SOCIAL SERVICE IN THE RESOLUTION OF CONFLICT SITUATIONS

Abstract

The article outlines the objective and subjective factors and causes of conflict situations, the specifics of providing social services counselling in the context of their resolution. The areas of provision of social services counselling in the aspect of resolving conflict situations are indicated. There is provision of psychological assistance; correction of psychological state and behavior in everyday life; help in strengthening / restoration of family and socially beneficial ties. The levels of providing social counselling services are descripted. These is individual, family, group, mass levels. Attention is focused on the features of providing the appropriate service to the client, which can provide him with a way out of a difficult life situation (crisis), in particular, the specifics of providing a social service counselling under extraordinary circumstances are considered. Emphasis is placed on the functions of counselling in the context of the problem of resolving conflict situations from the standpoint of «norm» and «value». The main measures for solving conflict situations in the process of providing the appropriate service are considered. These is help in analyzing of problem, identifying conflict-prone areas, finding alternative ways out and making decisions, assisting in self-help, building self-confidence, self-respect, communication skills, social correction of relationships, finding alternative ways out and making decisions. It is noted that the social service counselling provides assistance aimed at changing the perception and behavior of an individual in a conflict, actualizing his internal resources, stimulating his own potential, and improving relations with the social environment.
