RESTORATIVE PRACTICES AS A MEANS OF PREVENTING AND OVERCOMING DESTRUCTIVE CONFLICTS

Abstract

The growth of conflicts in educational institutions becomes very relevant during the educational process, in the period of distance or mixed learning. The question of building a safe educational space is in demand among the educational community. Modern educational institutions significantly influence the development of students' skills in constructive resolution of conflict situations and non-violent communication, through the application and implementation of restorative practices in the educational process. The issue of prevention of conflict behavior among students is urgent and requires systematic implementation in educational institutions. According to the author, the education system needs appropriate changes and improvements, for the development of key skills and abilities of education seekers. The tasks facing the employees of the educational institution are timely detection, identification and resolution of the conflict. Timely measures taken to prevent conflict behavior among students minimize the development of other negative and destructive phenomena, both in the educational institution and in society. Social tension, domestic violence, and ill-treatment lead to manifestations of aggressive behavior and an increase in cases of destructive conflicts among students. International experience shows that the use of a restorative approach in an educational institution contributes to the restoration of interpersonal relationships and minimizes the manifestations of destructive conflicts among students. The purpose of the article is to analyze the implementation of restorative practices in educational institutions as a means of preventing destructive conflicts. The article uses a theoretical analysis of the literature, which made it possible to find out the peculiarities of the application of restorative practices in the construction of a safe educational space and in reducing the level of conflict. The conducted analysis of the prevention of destructive conflicts by means of restorative practices allowed to determine the key measures for their popularization and implementation in educational institutions of Ukraine.
