SOCIAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL WORK WITH ELDERLY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

The article clarifies the problems of the pandemic COVID-19 faced by humanity, which has dramatically changed the lives of the entire population of the Earth, especially the elderly. The aim of the article is to theoretically study and empirically study the essence of social work, psychological characteristics of the elderly to determine the features of social work with the elderly in a pandemic COVID-19. The legislative base of Ukraine is analyzed, which is presented by a number of legislative projects, which best contribute to the support of the elderly and determine their role in society. The content and key forms of social work in Ukraine with elderly people in quarantine conditions who are at risk and are under special care of the state are determined. As a result of the conducted empirical research the basic principles of rendering of effective social and psychological help are formulated, psychological features are revealed and the basic difficulties which elderly people in the conditions of quarantine face are defined. The main qualities that a social worker of high professional level should possess, according to his professional profile, which are primary and basic. Based on theoretical study and empirical study of the essence of social work, psychological characteristics of the elderly work and developed recommendations for social workers who work with the elderly in quarantine, It was found that in working with the elderly who are at risk and in crisis, in need of psychological and material support from the state, it is necessary to take an individual approach to each on the basis not only of a deep study of personal and professional and business qualities, but also in identifying their interests and needs
