SOCIAL WORK WITH INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS: INNOVATIVE PRACTICES OF ASSISTANCE AND ADAPTATION

Abstract

The article focuses on social work with internally displaced persons, particularly the analysis of innovative practices of assistance and adaptation under current societal challenges. The purpose of the study is to outline innovative technologies for social support and adaptation of IDPs during martial law. The research employed general scientific methods of cognition, including analysis and synthesis, systemic and comparative approaches, generalization, as well as structural-functional and sociological methods. The findings show that the modern system of social work with internally displaced persons in Ukraine is characterized by a multilevel structure, complexity, and focus on long-term integration of displaced people into host communities. It has been proven that the effectiveness of social assistance is ensured through the combination of state, public, and international resources, which makes it possible to create comprehensive support programs encompassing humanitarian, psychological, educational, and economic components. The study identifies directions for improving the system of social support for displaced persons, including continuous monitoring of needs and program effectiveness; personalization of approaches to clients; strengthening psychological assistance; and developing self-sufficiency skills. The importance of improving the qualifications of social workers, enhancing social payment mechanisms, and creating conditions for affordable housing and employment has been emphasized. Particular attention is given to the social integration of IDPs into community life through involvement in volunteer initiatives, mutual aid programs, and joint development projects. It is demonstrated that the integration of digital, socio-economic, and psychotherapeutic tools shapes a new paradigm of social work aimed at sustainable development, inclusion, and the strengthening of human potential in wartime conditions. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying its results to the development of effective programs for the social integration of IDPs, improvement of assistance technologies, and the formation of state social protection policy in crisis situations.
