FEATURES OF IMPLEMENTING DAY CARE SERVICES FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES ON THE BASIS OF PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article reveals the features of the introduction of day care services for young people with disabilities on the basis of public organizations in Ukraine. The relevance of the topic is due to the increase in the number of people with disabilities in conditions of full-scale war, as well as the implementation of the deinstitutionalization policy in Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to consider the social service of day care as a tool of deinstitutionalization, to study successful practices of providing this service to young people with disabilities in Ukraine by public organizations and to develop recommendations for its introduction. The authors of the study emphasize the importance of providing day care services specifically for young people who, after reaching the age of 18, lose access to specialized children's centers and programs, which limits the possibilities of their further development and socialization, mastering the skills of independent living and work in accordance with their capabilities. The introduction of this service at the level of the territorial community will contribute to the deinstitutionalization of care for young people with disabilities, will ensure the realization of their right to live in a family and community, to development and social adaptation. In turn, the day care service will allow parents or guardians to free up time for work, self-realization and rest. The experience of providing day care services by public organizations «Dzherelo» and «Maysternya Mriy» is considered. It was determined that the creation of day care centers in territorial communities on the basis of public organizations, the founders of which are often parents of young people with disabilities, or people who are not indifferent to their problems, has a number of advantages: interest in providing quality services, experience in caring for people with disabilities, an individual approach and the use of innovative work methods. Recommendations have been developed for the implementation of day care services for young people with disabilities on the basis of a public organization.
