CRITERIA AND INDICATORS OF EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIAL SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of assessing the effectiveness of social support for students in universities, in particular, determining the criteria and indicators of its effectiveness. The relevance of the given problem at the current stage of development of higher education has been proven. The essence of the concepts: «vulnerable category», «studentship», «social support», «effectiveness of social support», «criteria for the effectiveness of social support», «indicators of the effectiveness of social support» has been clarified. Students are characterized as a vulnerable group of people, and groups of students in need of social support are listed. At the same time, it was observed that not all university students have difficult life circumstances or cannot overcome them. The peculiarities of the influence of various factors on the vulnerability of students are considered. It was emphasized that, despite the variety of problems that cause the need for social support of students, there are a number of common signs (indicators) of the effectiveness of this support. It is acclaimed that the criteria for the effectiveness of social support are complex in nature and act altogether. Based on the generalization of the scientists' research, the criteria (the level of solving the problem that caused the student's need for social support; the level of optimization of the conditions of his education and the level of improvement of his physical and emotional state) and indicators (quantitative (waiting time and time of service provision; its completeness of the service), qualitative (self-assessment by the student of the state of his own health; awareness of his responsibility; development of social skills and abilities; analysis of his own behavior and readiness for self-regulation; social activity), intermediate, final) effectiveness of social support of students in universities. Prospects for further research in this area are outlined.
