FORMATION OF SOFT SKILLS IN FUTURE SOCIAL WORKERS IN THE PROCESS OF PRACTICAL TRAINING

Abstract

In the article, a theoretical analysis of the problem of formation and development of soft skills among future social workers in the process of practical training is carried out. The following methods were used to investigate the problem: theoretical and methodological analysis of literary sources; included and mediated observation; retrospective analysis of the author’s own experience. It was revealed that the process of forming soft skills among future social workers is possible through the mastery of certain educational components. Thus, during practical classes in the disciplines «Practicum in social work», «Organization and methods of social-pedagogical training» and «Self-education and self-regulation of personality», students develop such skills as: communication skills, creativity, teamwork, emotional intelligence, interaction with people, time management, designing one’s own activities, self-development, stress resistance, ability to learn, critical and ecological thinking; also develop moral and professional qualities necessary for future professional activity. The theoretical analysis of the actual problem made it possible to identify the analyzed group of skills, such as active listening, critical and creative thinking, information gathering, organization and time management, setting boundaries, empathy, communication skills, persuasion, cooperation, advocacy. It was determined that under conditions when there is a particularly acute need for personnel who possess effective methods and techniques of communication, are able to create an atmosphere of trust and ease, have communication skills to establish contacts with potential clients and are able to find a subtle psychological approach to the client, solve conflict and de-escalation, as well as their professional success, requires a clear set of skills.
