ACTIVITIES OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY ASSOCIATION IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL CHALLENGES OF OUR TIME

Abstract

The article highlights the features and main activities of the International Social Security Association (ISSA). Founded under the auspices of the International Labour Organization, ISSA has more than 320 member organizations in more than 150 countries. ISSA aims to promote improvement in Social Security Administration through professional guidance, expert knowledge, services and support to develop effective social security systems and policies around the world. The article shows the place and role of ISSA in the international system of social protection and Social Security, its contribution to the promotion and development of the social security system in the world. The aim of the study is to analyze the main directions and specifics of the activities of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) in the context of global challenges of our time and the correlation of ISSA activities with social welfare programs. The article notes that prevention of social challenges and risks is considered as an integral part of the Social Security System. Therefore, modern global challenges (unemployment (including among young people), population aging, unequal access to social services, education, health, pension systems, problems of labour migration, rapid technological development and digitalization of the economy, high public expectations regarding the availability and quality of social services, etc.) put the social security system in demand for a quick and effective response to the challenges of the time to minimize social risks, protect against welfare errors, and reduce social tension. Therefore, the International Social Security Association faces the task of not only ensuring the sustainable functioning of the existing social security system, but also modernizing it in accordance with the challenges of the time. Thus, ISSA's activities are aimed at assessing the gaps and needs of the social security system, identifying a priority action plan, implementing initiatives to improve the functioning of the social security system and evaluating their progress.
