Abstract

The article describes that modern Ukrainian society is characterized by the restructuring of family, moral, worldview values, which, along with the unstable political and economic situation, negatively affects the life of the family institution in our country. Therefore, the necessity and urgency of finding ways to stabilize a young family is acute. A prerequisite for creating a strong and stable family is an adequate marriage choice. A prerequisite for creating a strong and stable family is an adequate marriage choice. But in the transitional stage of the development of our society, when some values are dying and new ones have not yet been established, the choice of marriage is influenced by a number of social stereotypes borrowed from the modern culture of the West, or adopted from traditional folk ideas about family relationships, which are losing their relevance today. The problem of determining the level of satisfaction with marital relations is very relevant today. Factors determining satisfaction with marriage were studied in numerous scientific works, both in a static moment and in the dynamic process of family development. Most authors recognize the leading role of personal, socially determined characteristics of spouses in assessing the success of marriage. Also, in the course of research, it becomes clear to scientists that the family, regardless of the stage of development it is in, needs the support and help that a psychologist can provide. But, despite the considerable amount of research on this problem, it is still not sufficiently studied. It has been proven that the nature of the spouses' relationship largely corresponds to the characteristics of their parents' relationship, as well as the relationship with their parents in early childhood. In those cases when the conflicts between the parents crossed a certain limit, resulting in various manifestations of mutual hostility, but the matter did not lead to divorce, children often perceived such relationships as the anti-model of a normal family and, entering into marriage, built their marital relationships in a different way. If the parents' conflict reached the extreme limit and became unbearable for both parties, then divorce is more in the children's interests than further life together.
