PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF GENDER EQUALITY AND THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN MILITARY SERVICE IN UKRAINE

Abstract

In modern society, the topic of the role of women in the military sphere, their participation in military service and associated psychological aspects are becoming increasingly relevant. According to the Law of Ukraine «On Military Duty and Military Service» the importance of women serving in the military is growing. The psychological problems faced by female military personnel are revealed, namely: the presence of stereotypes and prejudices in society regarding the role of women in the military sphere, social pressure and misunderstanding from family, friends and other social groups, sexual violence and harassment, stress and post-traumatic stress disorder, limiting the development of career growth. The gender studies of foreign psychologists are highlighted, the insufficiency of scientific studies that point to the psychological problems of gender equality and the role of women in military service is revealed. The concepts of «Gender », «Gender Equality» and «Gender Psychology» are characterized, and research is conducted and presented using quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze this issue properly. Based on the results of the research, recommendations and measures are proposed to support gender equality and psychological health of military women in Ukraine, which can be an important step in improving the conditions and status of women in the military sector. As a result of the conducted scientific research, the author came to the conclusion that the creation of a favorable and equal environment for women in the military service is an important goal and requires a comprehensive approach, further research in this area, which sees the prospects for the implementation of measures to overcome the psychological problems of gender equality and the role women in military service in Ukraine, research on their effectiveness. This article can be useful for specialists in the field of gender studies, psychology, as well as for decision-making aimed at supporting gender equality and psychological health of military women in Ukraine.
