STUDY OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN GENDER EQUALITY AMONG CADETS MAJORING IN SPECIALTY “LAW ENFORCEMENT” AND WAYS TO IMPROVE IT

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of communicative competence of future police officers, in particular, the gender peculiarities of communicative competence in cadets majoring in Law Enforcement are investigated and ways to improve their communication skills in the educational process are outlined. In the article, the communicative competence of police officers is understood not only as a necessary level of experience, skills and abilities of interpersonal interaction in the performance of professional activities, but also as a personal quality that allows not only to establish contacts, overcome barriers to communication, but also to influence the interlocutor, prevent conflicts. It has been established that communication competence is an important component of a police officer’s professional activity in the field of gender equality. The empirical research has revealed that the most characteristic gender type of cadets is masculine, followed by feminine and less pronounced androgynous personality types. A correlation between the manifestation of communication skills and gender type was found: the level of communication skills of the representatives of the feminine group of cadets is higher than that of the representatives of the masculine and androgynous groups. It has been found that cadets have more pronounced communication qualities such as: desire for dominance, power, self-confidence, stubbornness and conflict. These qualities are not conducive to effective communication in the field of gender equality and may be determined not only by the maximalist characteristics of adolescence, but also by the complex, intense educational process in a higher education institution with specific learning conditions, chronic stress in war. Increasing the level of communicative competence in the field of gender equality among cadets can be realized through psychoeducational and educational work, demonstration of manifestations of communicative tolerance by course officers and teachers, prevention of gender discrimination and prevention of gender-based violence in the educational environment, mastering gender-sensitive communication skills and promoting the development of a gender-sensitive culture.
