Abstract

The relevance of the study of regional peculiarities of cultural identification of young people is due to the realization of the need to find ways and means to solve the problem of adaptation and integration of both internally displaced persons to other socio-cultural traditions and the "traditional" population of the regions to new living conditions. The stages of the work are outlined, the logic of designing methodological tools for studying regional peculiarities of cultural identification of students and pupils of Ukraine is described. Namely: the selection of psychological indicators of the study based on theoretical analysis of scientific sources; their operationalization with the help of scales; the construction of judgments (empirical indicators) that reveal the content of each scale. It is described the psychosemantic questionnaire designed by us to identify regional peculiarities of cultural identification of pupils and students. The article presents the first results of an empirical study conducted in five regions of the country (central, eastern, western, southern, and northern), in which 795 respondents took part. Based on the results of processing the empirical data, the author identifies the main factors that determine the regional peculiarities of the cultural identification of pupils and students: 1) connection with the Ukrainian (folk) culture; 2) appreciation – devaluation of the achievements and traditions of their own culture; 3) modality of attitude towards their people, which are revealed in different ways. The first factor describes the general positive characteristics of youth cultural identification, while the others reveal aspects that facilitate or impede it. It has been found that for young people in the central, eastern and western regions, the emotional and value aspect of experiencing a connection with cultural traditions is decisive, while for young people in the northern and southern regions, it is the behavioral aspect, which is realized through involvement in cultural traditions, interest and support for Ukrainian culture.
