Control at the workplace is considered as a potential predictor of professional well-being due to the connection with the individual needs of the employee according to the motivationalvalue model of professional well-being, which represents it as an integrated state that is formed in connection with the extent to which individual needs are realized in professional activity, considering individual values. The purpose of the study is to determine the nature of the relationship between perceived work control, needs and professional well-being of an individual. Учасниками дослідження стали 92 академічних працівники університетів, відібраних методом випадкового відбору. In accordance with the purpose of the study, a cross-sectional method was applied using the Needs Satisfaction Questionnaire (Porter, 1961), the Job Satisfaction Scale (Spector, 2022), and the Work Control Scale (Dwyer, & Ganster, 1991). The conducted research made it possible to confirm that a sense of control is an integral part of professional well-being. The obtained results revealed a significant positive relationship between perceived job control and occupational well-being of employees. Positive correlations were established with a sense of security, satisfaction of social needs, the need for respect and self-realization. A close relationship was also established between the general indicators of needs satisfaction: with the indicator of the discrepancy between the desired state of needs satisfaction and its real state and the needs satisfaction index, which show that with increasing control over work, the level of satisfaction of employees' needs also increases. A future research perspective should be to test the nonlinear relationships between job control and occupational well-being, particularly the mediating role of individual employee needs in the relationship between perceived job control and occupational well-being.
