The article explores the role of psychological endurance among future reconnaissance officers within the framework of metacognitive monitoring, emphasising its significance as a key factor in ensuring effective decision-making in combat situations. The fundamental components of psychological endurance – stress resilience, adaptability, volitional regulation, and self-reflection – enable reconnaissance officers to sustain high levels of operational efficiency in challenging and high-stress environments. Metacognitive monitoring, as a process of awareness and regulation of cognitive functions, aids military personnel not only in evaluating their readiness to execute tasks but also in effectively adapting their strategies under conditions of combat stress. Particular attention is given to the mechanisms of metacognitive monitoring that mitigate cognitive distortions, such as overconfidence or excessive doubt, both of which are critical in making wellinformed decisions. The development of metacognitive skills may be facilitated through the integration of psychological training, simulation exercises, mentoring programmes, and advanced technologies such as virtual reality and biofeedback. Contemporary technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence, can significantly enhance the effectiveness of metacognitive monitoring by personalising training programmes and refining the processes of cognitive strategy assessment and adjustment. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of cultivating cognitive strategies, including self-regulation and self-reflection, to bolster stress resilience and adaptability to dynamic combat conditions. A high level of metacognitive monitoring enables reconnaissance officers to respond swiftly to emerging challenges, thereby ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of decision-making in complex operational scenarios. Methods for enhancing psychological endurance – such as physical training, cognitive skills development, and the application of feedback technologies – contribute to the comprehensive psychological preparedness of military personnel for undertaking critical tasks in combat situations. The findings of the study highlight the pivotal role of metacognitive monitoring in strengthening the psychological endurance of reconnaissance officers and identify prospective directions for further research.
