Abstract

The article highlights the role of socio-emotional competence (SEC) as a key factor that contributes to the adaptation of businessmen to a high level of uncertainty, stress and crisis situations in extreme conditions of domestic entrepreneurship during the war. It is also emphasized that the resilience and psychological well-being of businessmen ensure their effective activities, further development of the enterprise and the restoration of the country’s economy. The main components of socio-emotional competence are identified: self-awareness of the individual, empathy, self-regulation of emotions, effective interpersonal relationships, responsible decisionmaking in conditions of uncertainty and risk. The purpose of the study was to conduct an empirical analysis of the problem of the influence of socio-emotional competence on the psychological well-being of the individual and to empirically test the hypothesis regarding socio-emotional competence as a predictor of the psychological well-being of the individual using the example of domestic businessmen. The empirical research methods were the questionnaire “Socio-emotional competence (SEC)” by A.O. Shashenkova; the methodology for determining the psychological well-being (PB) of the individual by S.M. Zabarovska. The analysis of empirical data showed a clear differentiation in the profiles of socio-emotional competence and psychological well-being of respondents depending on the level of involvement in the business environment and the complexity of management functions: the highest indicators were shown by managers of large businesses; sole proprietors are characterized by less stable indicators both in the field of emotional regulation and in the context of psychological well-being; owners of LLC business organizations demonstrated moderate indicators, being between the extreme poles, which indicates a flexible, but not always consistent style of their self-management and social interaction. The results of the study empirically confirm that socio-emotional competence is an important psychosocial construct, as well as a predictor of an individual’s psychological well-being in the field of business and entrepreneurship.
