EMOTIONAL INTERACTION BETWEEN PARENTS AND CHILDREN: THE ROLE OF ATTACHMENT IN RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The article presents a theoretical study of the emotional closeness of parents with different attachment styles. The work was based on a systemic analysis of scientific and theoretical studies on the issue of emotional closeness manifestations between parents with different attachment styles in their relationships with children. The article attempts to integrate scientific positions on the problem of emotional closeness between parents and children. The subject of the study was defined as the emotional closeness of parents with different attachment styles. The main focus of the article was on the impact of attachment styles on emotional closeness in parent-child relationships. The synthesis of scientific research made it possible to define emotional closeness between parents and children as an important component of family interaction, significantly influencing the psychological development of children, the formation of their emotional competence, and social skills. Emotional closeness affects the emotional and psychological state of the entire family, contributing to the creation of a healthy environment for the emotional, social, and cognitive development of the child. Prolonged emotional tension and stress in the family can lead to exhaustion in emotional, mental, and physical spheres, which negatively affects both the personal well-being of parents and interpersonal relationships within the family. The article notes that parental attachment security promotes the ability to establish emotional connections with others, build strong interpersonal relationships, and create effective behavioral models in relationships with their own children. The ability to understand the cognitive and affective states of others is crucial for successful social interaction. Adults with a secure attachment style can more easily attune themselves to the thoughts of others. It is clarified that insecure attachment in parents can manifest itself in emotional regulation difficulties, mistrust of the partner, and dissatisfaction in relationships. Parents with insecure attachment often struggle to express love and affection, opting for competition or avoidance in conflict resolution. Insecure attachment is associated with social difficulties, challenges in stress regulation, which lead to problems with emotional expression and empathy.
