Abstract

Family life is one of the most important aspects of human life, ensuring not only social stability, but also psychological realization of the individual. In modern conditions of transformation of social norms, changes in gender roles and behavioral patterns, the problem of forming ideas about marriage and family among young people becomes particularly relevant. Psychologists emphasize that emotional competence, individual perceptions of family roles, responsibilities, and expectations, serve as the foundation for building marital relationships. The formation of such perceptions occurs under the influence of family experience, cultural models, the media, as well as personal values and the level of emotional maturity. Accordingly, the analysis of ideas about family life among modern youth is important for understanding the mechanisms of formation of future marital relationships. It has been confirmed that a positive orientation of young people towards marriage and family is ensured by a complete parental family with a favorable psychological and emotional climate. In single-parent families, the likelihood of future divorce of children increases significantly, since the formation of orientations towards marriage and family is complicated due to the deformation of role socialization. Partners who experienced parental divorce in childhood are more likely to experience difficulties in maintaining their own family; they are more prone to intrafamily conflicts and value the traditional family less than children from intact families. The formation of individual ideas about married life and attitudes towards a partner is significantly influenced by the position of a brother/sister in the parental family. Psychoeducational programs aimed at forming conscious ideas about marriage and emotional competence can contribute to strengthening family relationships in young people. Individual ideas about family life as a factor in the formation of marital relations between men and women are investigated and described; the influence of the paternal family and the relations between its members on the formation of individual ideas about marital cohabitation is established at the empirical level.
