ANIMATION PRACTICES IN MUSEUMS AS A TOOL FOR POPULARIZING CULTURAL HERITAGE

Abstract

The purpose of the paper. To determine the role of animation in museum institutions as a tool for popularizing cultural heritage and to analyze the animation technologies used in these institutions. Methodology. To conduct it, the following methods were used: comparative analysis – to identify similarities and differences in animation practices in different museums; systematization and classification – to classify the main technologies of animation practices and identify their characteristic features. The scientific novelty the research is that the authors analyzed existing animation practices in Ukrainian museums and identified their potential for popularizing cultural heritage. Conclusions. Modern museums widely use animation practices in their activities. Museum animation is an important tool for the modernization of museums, contributing to the popularization of cultural heritage and creating a unique experience for each visitor. It not only changes the way the material is presented, but also contributes to the formation of a deeper interest in history, art and science. However, the use of animation technologies requires significant capital investments, as it involves the implementation of the latest techniques. The cost of equipment, software, as well as the need for regular technology updates can be a significant financial burden for organizations with a limited budget. In case of insufficient funding, such innovations may be inaccessible to most cultural institutions. Technology can help make exhibits more accessible and engaging for visitors, but overuse of modern animation tools can lead to the loss of the authentic context of the exhibits. Therefore, it is important to find the right balance between using the latest technology and preserving the historical authenticity of the exhibits.
