SOCIAL DESIGN OF A COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY-LEVEL MODEL FOR THE SOCIAL INTEGRATION OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES

Abstract

This article focuses on analyzing the social integration of adults with disabilities among internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the community level and substantiating social design as an applied approach to building a comprehensive model of integration support. The study demonstrates that integration is a multidimensional process that includes access to resources and services, participation in social ties, and restoration of social roles, and that its effectiveness is determined not only by individual resources but also by environmental characteristics, the institutional capacity of the community, and the accessibility and quality of services. The article emphasizes the contemporary challenges of wartime, when displacement increases the risks of social isolation, reduces the accessibility of infrastructure, and intensifies the need for coordinated, continuous support solutions. The aim of the study is to theoretically substantiate and develop, on the basis of social design, a comprehensive model of social integration of adults with disabilities among IDPs at the community level, identifying key factors, barriers, and resources for integration, as well as mechanisms of intersectoral interaction and criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of integration measures and social services. Special attention is paid to systematizing integration barriers manifested through the inaccessibility of the environment, information constraints, stigma, the disruption of support networks, employment difficulties, and service gaps, which collectively reduce real opportunities for participation and autonomy. On this basis, a project-based integration model is proposed as a coordinated service-user pathway that combines needs assessment, individual planning, case management, psychosocial support, tools for socio-economic inclusion, and the development of social ties, supported by regular intersectoral coordination. The research methodology is based on an analysis of scholarly literature and a synthesis of contemporary approaches to community social work, inclusion, and social design, using comparative analysis, systematization, and modelling of the theory of change. The article applies methods of problem structuring, defining target groups, and designing model components with regard to needs and the operating conditions of local services. The scientific novelty lies in conceptualizing the social integration of adults with disabilities among IDPs within a project-based logic and in proposing a comprehensive community-level model that combines a modular service package, a service-user pathway, mechanisms of intersectoral interaction, and criteria for assessing integration outcomes. Conclusions. Social design makes it possible to move from fragmented measures to a managed support model, increasing the accessibility, continuity, and effectiveness of integration at the community level. Further research should focus on empirically testing the effectiveness of the proposed model in different types of communities and refining integration indicators that are sensitive to diverse needs and levels of autonomy among adults with disabilities among IDPs.
