PHYSICAL EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN POLAND: HISTORIOGRAPHICAL DIMENSION

Abstract

The relevance of the problem represented in the scientific article is determined by the need to predict a number of innovations in the Ukrainian theory and practice of physical education, taking into account the foreign research field.Emphasis is placed on the expediency of a thorough understanding of the mass of scientific research on the development of physical education of children and youth in Poland accumulated in Polish pedagogical science. The purpose of the study is to carry out a systematic analysis of historical and pedagogical works of the relevant content, implemented by Polish scientists. The names of about thirty domestic scientists have been announced, in the researches of which the theoretical, methodological and methodical principles of physical education, the problem of professional training of teachers to carry out this educational work at school and the historical experience of physical education in Ukraine have been highlighted. It was established that the historiographical analysis of the explorations of Polish researchers in the context of the retrospective of the theory and practice of physical education in Poland has not yet become the subject of comprehensive study by domestic scientists. Particularly informative works of Polish scientists on the study of the history of physical education of a growing personality, which appeared in the 1920s and 1930s, are represented, the importance of these reflection studies is emphasized: they contributed to the formation of the foundation of Polish historiography in the context of the problem of physical education of students. Separate historical and pedagogical studies published in 1945‒1989 are characterized, and the opinion is expressed that various pedagogical knowledge about the history of Polish physical education appears in these sources. Extracts from modern Polish sources (after 1989) are presented, it is established that they reflect the great interest of Polish researchers in topics and events related to the physical education of children and youth, which chronologically cover the period of the «annexed territories», and the period of the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the years of the Polish People’s Republic, and today.
