The article describes that modern scientists single out several directions of psychological well-being research: from the point of view of the problem of positive functioning of the individual, views on the phenomenon of «psychological well-being» based on psychophysiological preservation of functions and as a holistic experience that manifests itself in a subjective feeling of happiness, self-satisfaction and one's own life, as well as related to basic human needs and values. Two approaches to the interpretation of the psychological well-being of the individual are indicated: hedonistic and eudaemonistic. The hedonistic approach is combined with the achievement of happiness, here psychological well-being is considered from the standpoint of enjoying life as an individual and trying to avoid negative emotions. On the basis of the eudaemonistic approach, psychological well-being is considered from the standpoint of a fully functioning individual who has a meaning in life, develops, and realizes himself. The concept of quality of life is interpreted as the degree of satisfaction of a person's material, cultural and spiritual needs, and is also determined by comparing the actual level of satisfaction of needs with the basic level. It has been proven that the psychological well-being and positive life functioning of a young person depend on the development, constructive transformation of the personality, self-realization, health, interpersonal relationships, empathy, the presence of meaning in life, a sense of inner freedom and responsibility for one's life choices. It is noted that, taking into account the psychological features of this age, it is worth noting that, first of all, a person, seeking support from others, has his own benefit, since the need for communication and understanding on the part of relatives, friends and others prevails.
In the conditions of war, the student youth reorients itself from social to personal activity, personally implements life decisions in responsible choices that determine the social directions of its activity for a long time, also the structural transition of an individual to independent management of his life requires the development of appropriate mental structures.
