THE IMPACT OF VOLUNTEERING ON THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE SOCIAL WORKERS

Abstract

The article analyzes the impact of volunteering on the professional development of future social workers. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the essence of the synonymous concepts «volunteering», «volunteer activity» and «volunteer movement» was considered. It is noted, that volunteering is a primary element and basis for the development of professional social work. This form of activity is extremely important for personality development and training of future social workers, because it gives them the opportunity to gain practical experience, develop social competence, and cultivate interpersonal skills, which are necessary for successful professional activity in the social sphere. The author emphasizes, that volunteering helps future social workers to expand their outlook on various social problems and challenges that exist in society; contributes to the formation of professional values, such as justice, respect for human dignity, tolerance and responsibility; allows you to see the real faces of social problems; allows you to gain valuable experience in the field of management and develop skills that are necessary for effective functioning in professional activities; helps to find one's vocation and determine the direction of one's professional activity; allows you to build useful connections in the field of social work; can be a significant plus when looking for a job in the social sphere. It is indicated, that volunteering in the social sphere is not only a way to personal development, but also an important tool for improving the quality of life and supporting those who need help. Volunteering opens the door to the multifaceted and important world of social work, where help and support become the main tasks, and one's own contribution can change people's lives for the better.
