IMPROVING THOUGHTFUL READING OF HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF PEDAGOGY

Abstract

The article highlights the problem of improving thoughtful reading of university students of the Faculty of Pedagogy. The research is aimed at revealing the practical importance of reading skills. Improving the quality of reading competence of future primary school teachers will contribute to conscious work with texts of different types and genres in general. The purpose of the article is to analyze how thoughtfully higher education students can read, to explore ways to increase the consciousness of reading works of art. Based on the analysis of scientific views, the definition of thoughtful reading is given. The ways of using a number of mental operations necessary for mastering the complex process of reading and the skills of conscious reading are characterized: orientation in the structure of the text; understanding of its integral content, hidden meaning; memorizing what you read; assessment of the authenticity of the text; ability to use the information obtained for various purposes. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the article for the first time examines the improvement of thoughtful reading of higher education applicants. Attention is focused on such reading skills of applicants, which are necessary for methodological training in the field of linguistic and literary education. The monitoring of the readiness of second-year students of the Faculty of Pedagogy of Rivne State Humanitarian University to read a work of modern children's literature thoughtfully is outlined. The need to improve the process of thoughtful reading of future primary school teachers while studying in a higher education institution is substantiated. Comprehension of the views of scientists, generalization of methods of processing literary works for children, analysis of the reading competence of applicants allowed the authors to determine the goal and consider ways to improve the thoughtful reading of applicants for higher education of the Faculty of Pedagogy.
