ACCORDION VIRTUOSOS: «PATRIOTISM» CYCLE IN THE LIGHT OF THE UKRAINIAN SPIRIT

Abstract

This work is dedicated to the study of creating music videos within the cycle 'Patriotika' and their contribution to expressing the Ukrainian spirit. This research focuses on the interpretation of the cycle by the accordion artist Bogdan Kyslyak. An analysis of his performances and creative decisions in creating musical images imbued with patriotic motifs and characterized by unique expressiveness has been conducted. The role of the accordion in shaping a musical atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Ukrainian culture and identity has been explored. The paper highlights the importance of this cycle in the development of accordion music and its contribution to portraying patriotic themes in Ukrainian art. The goal is to investigate and analyze the Second Cycle - 'Patriotika' by accordionist Bogdan Kyslyak, dedicated to revealing Ukrainian patriotism through accordion music. The aim is also to introduce readers to the musical world associated with patriotism, Ukrainian identity, and promote an understanding of the role of art in embodying national values, as well as attracting attention to accordion music and fostering interest in patriotic themes through art. Methodology: The research utilizes an analytical approach, focusing on a detailed review of video materials dedicated to accordion virtuosos' performances in the context of the patriotic cycle. Scientific novelty: The work is the first systematic overview of the creation of music videos within the Second Cycle, highlighting the theme of 'Patriotika' in the context of accordion performance. The expressiveness and interpretation of Ukrainian patriotism through the musical dimension of the accordion have been explored. Conclusions: The analysis confirms that accordion performances in the Second Cycle effectively convey the spirit of Ukrainian patriotism. They employ various techniques and skillfully embody traditional Ukrainian melodies, emphasizing the national character of the performance. The research results provide a better understanding of how accordion virtuosos contribute to shaping and affirming Ukrainian patriotism in the contemporary musical context. In both videos, the accordion plays a crucial role with deep roots in Ukrainian musical tradition. The video's narrative, featuring children holding flags and creating a trident, symbolizes unity, support, and patriotic sentiments of the Ukrainian people. The video also emphasizes the importance of preserving and passing on Ukrainian cultural heritage to future generations.
