ACTIVATION OF STUDENTS’ SPEECH ACTIVITY BY MEANS OF WARMERS AT ENGLISH LESSONS

Abstract

The article is concerned with the problem of interconnected learning, which provides a parallel and balanced combination of all types of speech activities (listening, speaking, reading, writing) based on common language material in a consistent temporal relationship, considering motivational factors that can activate and stimulate language atmosphere at English lessons. It is known that the teacher is the initiator of creating a foreign language environment that enhances speech activity. After all, the foreign language communicative environment is characterized by the collective communicative activity of students and the creation of situations of success, subject-subject relationships between teacher and student, systematic foreign language communication. The relevance of the selected educational material is also one of the prerequisites for intensifying foreign language activities. It is proved that among the variety of methods, forms, tasks, exercises, speech warmers occupy a prominent place in the process of learning a foreign language. At the right moment, they stimulate, intensify the speech activity of students at all levels of language learning. A warmer is one of the important stages of a foreign language lesson, which is able to involve students to a foreign language atmosphere and stimulate their further work. Different types of such warmers diversify the lesson. The teacher can ask questions, encourage students to work in pairs or groups, learn short poems or songs, compose dialogues, work with illustrations, idioms, play, use printed tasks. Based on textbooks «Prepare. Student’s book and Teacher’s book by Cambridge University Press», focused on the development of all types of speech activities of students on the principle of interconnected learning, the algorithm of work with speech warmers on «Staying healthy» at an English class was examined.
