The article focuses on the concept of "project activity" taking into account modern methodological approaches to the organization of the educational process in primary school and the general requirements of the State Standard of Primary Education. The characteristics of the project method in elementary school as a method of organizing the pedagogical process are revealed. It was found that student project activity is a joint educational and cognitive, creative or game activity with a common goal, agreed methods and methods of work, aimed at achieving the result – creating a project. It is substantiated that the project method is one of the methods of organizing the pedagogical process and is characterized by certain features. It was revealed that the project involves a set of research, problem-solving and creative methods, aimed at the children independently achieving the intended result, getting the final product and presenting it. The categorical apparatus of general pedagogy has been expanded due to the definition of the content of the concept of "project activity". It has been proven that a prerequisite for project activity is the presence of a development idea, which includes reflection on the final product, on the results, on the stages of project design and implementation, on the understanding and results of the activity. The article focuses on the stages of the creative process of working on the project. The organization of the project requires careful preparation on the part of the teachers. It was determined that the organizers should possess the skills of pedagogical design and its components (skillful organization of the educational process, management skills and the ability to reflect). According to the results of the research, we came to the conclusion: research activity is very interesting for children of primary school age. This helps them to be successful not only in I Explore the World and other lessons, but in life in general. The development of students' research activity is a controlled process. At the same time, it is necessary to teach students to use new methods, to give students the opportunity to express themselves more often.
