Abstract

According to the results of the analysis of the concept of the New Ukrainian School, it was established that many of its provisions are consonant with the ideas of Vasyl Oleksandrovych Sukhomlynskyi. The introduction of formative assessment of schoolchildren’s educational achievements is new for modern teachers. Many valuable thoughts about the essence and ways of implementing such an assessment can be gleaned from the works of Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi. The analysis of his scientific works proves that formative assessment was based on love for the child, deep knowledge of its nature and needs, and pedagogical optimism. The study also analyzed and revealed the views of V. O. Sukhomlynskyi on the essence and significance of assessment, the relationship between assessment and the level of harassment of schoolchildren is substantiated. The advice of V. O. Sukhomlynskyi are relevant for the modern school regarding the evaluation of schoolchildren’s educational achievements and the formation of such an important quality as the ability to self-control. The goal of the work. Based on the analysis of the creative development of V. O. Sukhomlynskyi to reveal the essence and significance of the phenomenon of evaluating the educational achievements of schoolchildren. The methodological basis of the study is the regulatory and legislative support for the assessment of educational achievements of education seekers, Concept of the New Ukrainian School, works of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi, system and competence approaches, as well as scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization. The scientific novelty of the study arises from the establishment of the contribution of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi in substantiating the essence, significance, and practical mechanisms of implementing the problem of evaluating the educational achievements of schoolchildren. Conclusions. The results of scientific research can state that the pedagogical ideas of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi regarding the organization of evaluation of educational achievements of schoolchildren were innovative in nature and have not lost their significance in our time. It was established that the assessment was formal in nature and based on love for the child, faith in its ability to be better, deep knowledge of children’s nature and individual needs. Sukhomlynskyi’s advice on the essence and significance of evaluation, the relationship between evaluation and the level of individual achievement, and specific recommendations for evaluating the educational achievements of schoolchildren deserve attention.
