FUNCTIONING OF MILITARY DISCOURSE IN THE MODERN COMMUNICATIVE SPACE

Abstract

The article specifies the concepts of «discourse», «language discourse», «military discourse». What is a specific type of speech activity in the modern communicative space? A review of the works of Ukrainian scientists on problems related to the functioning of the military discourse, filling the concept of «war» with various images that form a kind of conceptual sphere was carried out. Characteristic specific thematic groups and subgroups of military discourse are defined and features of the use of military vocabulary in the communication of both military personnel and the civilian population are established. It has been proven that the organization of military discourse has its own characteristics, which are characterized by a high level of formality and precision, which requires the interlocutor to follow certain rules of using linguistic means. This approach made it possible to separate formal and informal military discourses, which are a special speech code used by military institutions and professionals to communicate with each other, transmitting commands and information in a structured and professional format. The possibilities of replenishing the vocabulary of military vocabulary thanks to the appearance of neologisms are revealed, and examples of their use in the process of communication are given. Characterized features of the enrichment of the vocabulary of military discourse with the beginning of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
