Abstract

The article examines the current problems of forming orthographic literacy of the future primary school teacher as one of the components of speech competence. The speech competence of the primary school teacher is always relevant, because the language education of the teacher is always a continuous and extremely necessary process. The state status of the Ukrainian language and the concepts of its teaching require continuous linguistic education, in-depth learning of language norms, raising the level of speech culture, and the formation of speech and communication skills and abilities. Elementary school teachers are the first and most important speech models for their students. The correctness of speech skills that children develop depends on how well the teacher knows the language norms. If the teacher demonstrates a high level of language literacy, students will automatically follow these norms in their speech. The ways of forming orthoepic literacy of education seekers in the process of studying the educational component “Modern Ukrainian language with practicum” are highlighted, the main directions of conducting orthoepic work with students, which is an important component of the professional training of future primary school teachers, are highlighted. This work includes both familiarization with the theoretical foundations of spelling, which is based on knowledge of phonetics and phonology, and active practical training of correct speech skills. Learning the basic orthographic norms of the native language is not only possible, but also necessary. It provides a systematic approach to language learning, mastery of normative not only written, but also oral language, serves as an important basis for improving the general language culture of future teachers.
